Originally, the Medal of Honor was created solely for the Navy in 1861. The other military branches followed suit; the Army medal was created in 1862 and finally the Air Force in 1965.Thomas E. Creek, Rodney M. Davis, and Wesley L. Fox – were awarded the medal for their heroic actions during the Vietnam War (1955-1975).
